The Heart and Success

by Mike Echterling

For every need that arises in a your life, there is a promise in God’s Word that will meet that need. You can claim the benefits of the promise through faith in Christ. When you are faced with a need, you must:

1. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what promises apply to your situation.

2. Obediently fulfill the conditions attached to the promises.

3. Expect the promises of God to be fulfilled in an exceedingly abundant way in your life. God delights in answering you and fulfilling His Word.

By doing these 3 things, you are a doer of the Word. You will have “the victory that has overcome the world” (1 Jn 5:4). And, you will have the victory by knowing and applying the promises of God’s Word.

“His, God’s divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him, Christ who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises.” (2 Pet. 1:3-4)

Peter says, God has already provided you with all that you will ever need for life and godliness and that this provision is available through Christ by claiming the promises of God as your own.

You must remember, most promises have conditions that must be fulfilled. Look at both the promise and the condition to the promise. Obey the condition and then receive by faith!

Ask the Holy Spirit what He would want you to do to walk in faith. Always thank Him for what you are believing for, even before you have received it. God has already provided so, it is up to us to receive each of His precious promises by faith. Spend time in the Word of God until you are fully persuaded by the promise.

If we desire to receive the abundant life He speaks of then we must make a decision to meet the condition. Often throughout the Bible the condition is follows the promise with the word "if" .

(Jer 18:10) If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

(Job 36:11) If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

(1Sa 12:14 - 15) If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God: But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.

(Exo 19:5) Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

(Exo 23:22) But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

If you want to see the abundant life that Jesus spoke of you must take careful notice of the condition that comes with each promise. God has given us a will. We can either choose to obey or not to obey the condition. You are free to make the right choice.

Lift up your voice and with all your heart and soul thank God for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to help you to obey. In Romans the Holy Spirit is called your Helper. Ask your Helper to help you and He will. Thank God all day long for His promise in your life.

Decide right now, never to allow any thought or imagination into your mind, soul and heart that is not in total agreement with God’s word. You can choose to God’s way, it really is the way of least resistance. Jesus said, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Mat 11:30) God is for you He is not against you!

Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
