As a lover of history, I love the story about Benjamin Franklin, who decided that lighting the streets of Philadelphia at night would add both beauty and increase safety to his city. Instead of embarking on a campaign of speeches and writing to persuade the other citizens, Franklin himself bought a large and beautiful lantern and mounted it on a long bracket in front of his home. He kept the glass clean and sparkling, and each evening at dusk he faithfully lit the lantern.

Soon his neighbors began to take notice, and they began maintaining their own lanterns at their home. Quickly, the trend spread throughout the city, and it eventually became a city-wide, city-sponsored program. As the story is told, Benjamin Franklin influenced the entire city of Philadelphia without a word. He simply began to enact change and spread light to all those around him.

As a Christian, I sometimes look around my world and feel horror at the darkness around me. One hour of the evening news is enough to leave the bravest heart running for cover. The truth is that we live in a hard world where bad things happen and it is often a frightening and confusing place.

However, there is a truth that we must not overlook. God is sovereign. Those three words bring hope and comfort to my soul. God is sovereign, and He calls His people to bring His light into the world.

I John 1:5 says, “... God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” If we are walking with Him, He fills our lives with light that shines on those around us. By our words and actions, we are called to bring Light into a very dark world. Let’s resolve to be Light-bearers to those in our world and pray that His Light will continue to spread all over our world - through us!

Psalm 89:1 (NAS)

What does your child think of when they think of you? Their answers would be very revealing, wouldn't they? As Michelle enters this new and exciting chapter of her life, I often think about what type of legacy have I really poured into her life.

Every day we are leaving our fingerprints on our kids. So what does Michelle think of when she thinks of me? A mom who was gentle and firm in her discipline or a mom who flew off the handle easily? A mom who seemed permanently attached to her phone or a mom who was available for life's big and small moments? A mom who occasionally went to church or a mom whose love of God was a part of her everyday life?

A legacy can be defined as "something handed down." Every day through our words and actions we are developing a legacy to be carried in the character of our children. It's easy for the busyness of life to keep you from being purposeful in your parenting. I know that I have decided to leave a legacy not born out of busyness and urgency, but one born of purposefulness, love and prayer.

It always helps me to remember that God is a parent too. So who better to turn to for parenting advice? It also helps me to know that God loves my child even more than I do, and He will fill in the gaps for me and Mike as we seek Him first. No matter what kind of parent you've been, today you can decide to add to and improve the legacy you are leaving. These are the only days we have with our children. We don’t get them back. Let us begin today to be the parents we know that we want and can be.

By Denise Hartmann-Echterling

“Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.” Proverbs 21:2 (NAS)

I love the beginning of new things – a new school year, the beginning of a new season, and the start of a new year. Maybe it’s the chance to start fresh that appeals to me. Fresh starts must appeal to many people, for most of us have made New Year’s Resolutions at one time or another.

I’ve certainly had many good plans over the years. I’m going to read the Bible in a year… have family devotions… eat healthier... exercise at least three times a week… improve my cooking skills, etc.

These have all been good plans, but I’m learning that good plans are not necessarily God’s plans. I so easily think that if something is good, then surely God wants me to do it. However, God wants us to consult Him first even before we start making our own plans. He wants us to pray and to ask Him if it’s what He wants for us.

When we’re excited about an idea, it’s easy to get carried away and run full steam ahead with our own plans. Also, when we’re talented in a certain area, it’s easy to think, Surely God wants me to apply my talents in this situation. There’s a good chance God will say, “Yes, go ahead.” I see so many people today filling their schedules with way too much – too many good activities, which prevent us from walking in God’s plans. Sometimes our schedules are so full of our own plans that we just don’t have room for God’s plans.

So as this New Year begins, let’s adopt at least one New Year’s Resolution: Before committing to anything, let’s ask God; Is this a good thing or a God thing? Have a happy and blessed 2010 - we love you! Denise

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV)

As a woman, don’t you wear a lot of hats? During the course of your week, you may place on your head any of the following hats: wife, mother, worker, daughter, sister, chief cook and bottle washer, chauffeur, nurse, maid, referee, oh, yeah….and a woman of God. Sometimes these hats are stacked so high that trying to balance them all on our pretty little heads sends us toppling completely over!!! And sadly, often the last hat we try to place on the top of this mountain is the crown we wear as a child of the King.

I love the simple, straight shooting words of our Lord. He cuts to the chase, breaking commands down into bite-sized chunks. He doesn’t direct us to apply a complicated six-step process in order to achieve what He has planned for us. No, He simply tells us gently, but firmly, what must be done in order for our lives to get in order.

Especially in today’s society, activity breathes and breeds busyness. We have no white space left on our calendar. It seems that our kids are constantly being carted from one activity to the next. We hardly even eat dinner as a family anymore! Yep, we are living a bold shade of busy.

Although we live in a much different society than those that heard the words of Jesus that day on the mountainside, we can still learn from them. While our responsibilities may scream at us at every turn, Christ stands whispering… Seek first my kingdom and my righteousness, and all of these things will be given to you as well. Perhaps His words will prompt us to do a little plate scraping, trimming down our schedules of some of the activities that clamor for our time and draw us away from our time spent with Him.

Whatever set of hats God directs you to keep in your wardrobe, remember to put them on in proper order. They will only stay standing when the crown you wear as a child of the King is placed on first! (Must be the points on our lovely tiara!) Denise

...For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

...Do you ever long to hear God say, “I choose you”? Maybe you have read that He has a plan for everyone’s life. But in your heart of hearts, you wonder: Am I special?

...There are stories from the Bible that illustrate how God calls ordinary people out of their ordinary lives. It is clear from the Scriptures that in each case He was watching them long before He invaded their lives with His holy presence.

...God chose Noah simply because He lived a righteous life. Genesis 6:8 tells us, “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.”

...God chose David simply because He saw His heart. Psalm 78:70-73 tells us, “He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; and he brought him to be the shepherd of his people.

...David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”

...None of these people held lofty positions or had received worldly acclaim. They were “nobodies”—and yet God saw each of them as they went about their daily lives, doing the most mundane of tasks. He saw their character, their right choices, and their hearts. And He said in response, “You’re the one.”

...In Mark 5:21-34, Jesus is walking with a crowd of people, all pressing in on Him, hungry for His attention, His healing, His words. The Bible tells us that the crowd “pressed around him”. I imagine people were grabbing at Him, desperate for even a small piece of Him. Only one woman, however, pressed in such a way that it caused Him to stop and turn to her. Her touch was different from all the rest.

This woman didn’t just touch Him with her hands, but with her heart of faith. He felt the difference as His power went out of Him and He in effect said in response to her: You’re the one. This woman was a “nobody,” with nothing to offer the God of the Universe. Yet, He found her worthy of His time and attention.

...God wants to find those people whose hearts are desperate for Him. He wants to heal, strengthen, and equip these people. He isn’t looking for the worthy, the intelligent, or the beautiful people. He is looking for the ordinary ones who are simply open to His invading presence in their lives. If He is calling you right now, don’t convince yourself that He isn’t. God sees you, just as you are, and He knows and loves the ones He calls.

"You must not have any other gods except me. "You must not make for yourselves an idol that looks like anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the water below the land. You must not worship or serve any idol, because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God. If you hate me, I will punish your children, and even your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”

Now you may say, "thanks for the first grade Sunday school lesson, Denise. ... " Now, please hang in here with me to the end of this teaching. Sometimes we read something so many times, we hear about something so much, that it loses its meaning.

Like all of you, I am a very busy person. ... I have "to do" lists, "been done" lists, and "ain't gonna do list," I have them all. I love checking things off the lists. I love doing and doing and doing, and adding to the list. ... Accomplish more, so you can just do more accomplishing? ... But, you know what I finally realized? The more I put on my list, the further I pushed God to the bottom.

We get up in the morning, yell at the family to get up, rush to shower and eat, rush to work, then at work, we rush even faster. Soon, we are going so fast, God is way down the list, and sometimes God is not even on the list. What does God think about all this? You know what I think? ... I think I grieve God when I go so fast and then shove Him down the list.

...You may expect me to say "ok.. folks. Let's all make a list. God at top, then family, church, work, etc." ... I don't think God likes that list. You know what I think God wants our list to look like? I don't think God wants to be #1 on a list of 10; He wants to be #1 on a list of 1.

... My list became too busy this past year and I found myself desiring only God being #1 on my list of 1. So I began saying the following prayer and seeing my priorities and my walk with God change. Would you join me by saying this prayer and seeing your list change?

Dear Father, help me get rid of the idols in my life, help me place You at the top of a list of one. Forgive me for pushing You down to the bottom and sometimes even off my list. Lord, let me enjoy You and make You a part of every minute of my life. Father, thank You for your Son Jesus, Who died in place of me.

By Denise Hartmann-Echterling

We are to live the Word of God in our ‘everyday’ life. When people see our lives they are to see the very same thing that they would read in the Old and New Testament. Paul said is 1 Corinthians 2:4, that our sermons may not be with pretty or smart with enticing words, but we are to come with a demonstration of His Spirit and His power.

In Canada, this past month, we saw Matthew 10:7-8 - COME ALIVE! We could fill several pages of the miracles, healings, and salvations that we experienced. God met with us and with God present, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! So, the following is just a glimpse into the services that we had in Alberta and British Columbia.

In our Calgary meeting, we prayed for a woman that was scheduled for surgery on her foot the following week. After prayer, HER SURGERY WAS CANCELLED! In that same meeting, we had several people - aged 10 years through 45 years old filled with the Holy Ghost.

Golden, BC was new ground for us. These meetings were not your typical ‘evangelistic’ outreach, so when a young woman who walked into one of our services, shared with us that she was deeply involved in a large world religion, we knew that God was ready to move upon her and show her that HE WAS ALIVE AND REAL. Yes, our God showed HIMSELF REAL and this precious lady received Jesus as her personal Savior.

When the Teen Challenge of Cranbrook, BC showed up at our meetings in Radium Hot Springs, we knew that God was going to show His faithfulness and love to those present. When these young men left the services they were filled with the Holy Ghost and with FIRE! One young man told the pastor “I KNOW GOD IS ALIVE IN ME”! In those same services, a man who had a broken pelvis, ribs, leg, arms and back after falling from a three story balcony saw the use in his right hand restored. Yes, the KINGDOM OF GOD IS IN OUR HANDS!

Jesus desires for each of us to realize that He is in our hands and He is ready to touch, heal, and forever change each life that you and I come across!

By Denise Hartmann-Echterling

When God needed a faithful leader for Israel, He called Samuel. “The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ Then Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening’” (1 Samuel 3:10).

When He needed a prophet for Israel, Isaiah answered the call, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send Me!’” (Isaiah 6:8)

God may not call you to serve Him as clearly as He did Samuel or Isaiah. Instead, He may call in a more quiet, but no less certain way.

However, how it is packaged, God is calling you to love people the way He does. Where do we get the power to love people who may wound us, offend us or not deserve it in our minds? Only by seeing them as broken, blind and in need of a Savior - at exactly the same place we would be if Jesus had not rescued us.

Jesus’ love never forgets that this is what we are. He doesn’t expect perfection. He isn’t surprised when we fail. He knows we would be empty if He didn’t fill us, broken if He didn’t heal us, and alone if He didn’t belong to us.

That is the simple message Jesus ask us to share with others. He is calling YOU! How will you respond?

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another”. John 13:34

By Denise Hartmann-Echterling

“When thou passest though the waters, I will be with thee...rivers..shall not overflow thee...neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2

The resurrection power is so invincible, we can be certain the Lord never forsakes, even in the midst of obstacles we consider impossible. Often, we become afraid when we can’t handle things. If we trust, He’ll do anything, just for us and He will deliver us. It is a real temptation to give in to fear during testing times, but it is important to realize that one of Satan’s greatest tools is fear.

We are living in the ‘end times’ spoken of in the Bible. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth” (Luke 21:26). But, we have a promise from God that He will be with us, through fire, through water, through all things. We know, that we know, that we know, that Jesus is always FAITHFUL to His Children... That is our promise and it is a certainty!

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had to go through the fire, but their clothes didn’t even smell of fire. With God’s abundant protection, they passed through unscathed. You, too, can walk in peace during these fearful times if you meditate on the promises of God. If we get our eyes and ears on God’s Word, fears are reversed and we will receive His peace. But, we can’t have His peace unless we meditate on His Word. So, we must remember to hear and obey His voice and know that “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

by Denise Hartmann-Echterling

“Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” Psalm 32:11 The Psalms are filled with exhortations to “shout” and “rejoice,” to praise God enthusiastically.

At times, however, we sure do not feel like praising God, and certainly not aloud. Loss and pain seem to push us from Him, causing us to focus on our hurts and our tears. Doubt, fear, and defeat also become the enemies of joy, bringing with them an almost suffocating cloud of depression.

At these times, we need to raise our hands and our head and look again at who God is and what He had done for us. We must remind ourselves that He is our Savior, comfort, shelter, refuge and our strength. No one can ever compare to our powerful and loving God.

What is stealing your joy? Bring it to the Lord and then thank Him for being with you and working in you. We must always remember, who He is, what He has done, and what He has promised in His Word. Our praises may start as a whisper, but we must be determined to “press in” and to always keep praising!

Soon we will be singing and shouting for joy for NOTHING can ever compare to the promises we have in Him!

by Denise Hartmann-Echterling

While evacuating from Mobile, AL to Atlanta, GA in bumper to bumper traffic for the incoming Hurricane Gustuv, I was listening to our van’s radio to get the latest on this dangerous and deadly storm. It was at that time that I heard a commercial on the radio advertising for the insurance company Allstate.

The commercial said, “You don’t need to face these storms alone, Remember, Allstate is always by your side.” As I sat in this almost standstill traffic, I felt quite alone. Mike was in Nigeria and I had the responsibility of protecting and caring not only for myself, but for Michelle and my 84 year old mother.

This incoming storm was to have a major impact on New Orleans, Mississippi and the Mobile area and with the jammed interstate traffic, I knew that I was not the only person running from the storm and away from the coast and Hurricane Gustuv. This commercial would not go away in my mind.

I started thinking how that if I replaced the name Allstate with the most powerful and loving name in the world - then the commercial would apply to you and me. What is that powerful, wonder-working name? That wonderful name is ALMIGHTY, the Ever-Present and LOVING God that created the Universe. If we lived our lives knowing that Almighty God is ALWAYS by our side, no matter what the situation or storm maybe, then the storms that will come will never overtake our lives.

Now, your storms may have different names cancer, lack, divorce, depression but the name of Jesus is above ALL other names. We need to remember (especially me) that Jesus is with us in our boats, even in the midst of our storm, and He is speaking PEACE to the storms that try to sink our boats. Jesus said, “I will NEVER leave or forsake you.” That is His promise to us!

So the next time you feel the waves coming into your boat - remember, you will NEVER have to face any storm alone. Our loving God, ALMIGHTY is ALWAYS by our side, protecting us and guiding us to the other side of the shore.

Worship is contagious. It just takes one person, willing to be vulnerable to God and the people around, to infect a whole group. Throughout Scripture, the people who led worship had to take some risks.

Moses broke out in song after crossing the Red Sea " a bold move for a very reluctant leader who was a stutter. David, overcome with joy, danced before the Lord, not caring whether or not it made him look foolish. Daniel, openly worshipped God even through it meant putting his life on the line. For each of these men, fears of what they might look like or how they might be labeled or what might become of them could not hold them back.

As a result, whole nations were led into God’s presence. Lives were saved, and people were directed back to God. I know for myself, I have considered the effect of my worship upon the people that surround me, as well as, for my family and even me.

My praise can help lift mine and others spirit of heaviness or give hope needed for the future. I might be the difference between their pressing on or giving up.

God is looking for true worshipers who will bless His name. Will you be the one to shout out loud and not hold back? I know for me, "my answer is "Yes, I will, ‘bless the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.’ Psalm 113:2

We were recently in Washington, DC at the Nigerian Embassy to receive permission and pay the necessary Visa fees so that Mike can travel and enter into their country. As the paperwork and money were turned in, we were instructed that within a week or two that permission should be granted.

As we left the fortified and heavily guarded Embassy, I was reminded how that the “Promised Land” that God promised His children, (this includes us today) was also fortified and well guarded. The Israelites, with God’s instructions an assistance, could have entered into the Land of Milk and Honey within a few weeks of leaving Egypt. But they, like us, became fearful and saw the “Land” as too difficult to enter and full of very large giants.

The Israelites, as well as US, have decided that entering into His Land of Promise is too hard and not for us TODAY, but for when we ‘all get to heaven’. God has laid before us choices to either enter to His Land of Promise or stay in the wilderness with all those that think that are as small as grasshoppers.

Our paperwork and visa for the Land of Promise has already been paid for by the Blood of Jesus. It is up to us to walk into and take possession of what has already been bought and paid for by our Savior. So let’s take what is ours - bought and paid for - OUR LAND OF PROMISE.

This is His manifest presence, which means, that it becomes localized and is made consciously apparent to one or more of our five physical senses, such as the ‘smelling’ of the fragrance of His presence. Through His manifest presence, the Lord comes to us in such a way that we not only sense His nearness, but are also made consciously aware of Him as a person.

...Thus, the Lord comes to us, in this intimate and personal way, to share His person and His thoughts with us and to partake of ‘substance’ we have received from Him. Honey and milk are a symbol of the Word of God. ... The Lord will cause others (eat, O friends) to come and partake of all that I have received, as I partake (drink and eat abundantly) of the Lord. The Lord gladly tells others to come and feed upon our spiritual life and experience. This is a profound and marvelous compliment, when the Lord is able to say this about us. For those who are spiritually thirsty and hungry to be a …(4:15), “a fountain of gardens, a well of living waters and streams from Lebanon”. He is telling us to drink to our full, until rivers of living water flow out from our innermost beings to all around.

...Between the last Canticle (5:1) and the beginning of the fourth Canticle, there has been another absence, which is set forth in the second verse of this chapter. The scene is suddenly changed and the time moves on from evening to midnight.

5:2 I sleep, but my heart wakes, it is the voice of my beloved that knocks, saying, open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled, for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. As she rested upon her bed, she continued to meditate on this blessed time of communion with the Bridegroom, within the ‘garden’ of her being. ... She has prepared herself to rest, but her heart is still in a condition where she can hear the voice of her Beloved. ... It is the sound of her beloved that knocketh at the door. The bridegroom knocks, not only once, but He continues to knock. He calls her to arise and shake off the slumber that locks her in its embrace. Open to me – whenever we wander away from our Lord in the least degree, He comes and calls us to open to Him. #5 She heard Him knock, but responded with an excuse….

5:3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? ... She acknowledged His desire to be with her, but she was not willing to be inconvenienced by responding to Him. She was quite satisfied and comfortable as she rested upon her bed and thought about her past time of fellowship with Him. Content with the memory of their past visit, she desired nothing further from Him. She was willing to live with ‘what had been.” Notice, that she heard His knock and that her spirit was willing to respond – ‘my heart wakes’ – But, her flesh was weak, and she was not inclined to be disturbed: “I sleep”. There was still much that needed to be accomplished within her, in order to bring about the changes which would enable her to become the Bride He desired. This importune knocking of the Lord on the door of our heart seeking a response from us, will reveal what is really important to us. ... Nevertheless, the bridegroom was grieved due to the delay in her response and He left. The ‘way of the entrance’ (door) that leads to the secret place had been placed in her path but she failed to respond and enter. He made it easy as He could for her to ascend into the place He had prepared for her. In the end, the bride loses what God is offering her and misses the blessing and the revelation that He is waiting to bring her. The best God has for her, she carelessly lets fall from her fingers.

With Chapter 3:6 begins the third Canticle, the historical setting of which is the life of Christ and His ministry while upon this earth. The first Canticle ends with the entreaty of the bride, that the daughters of Jerusalem shall, ‘stir not up nor waken, her beloved until he please’ and the second Canticle closes with the same entreaty, although as we have noted with a different motive.

3:6-8 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense with all powders of the merchant? Behold it is the litter of Solomon: threescore mighty men are about it, of the mighty men of Israel. They all handle the sword, and are expert in war; every man hath his sword upon his thigh, because of fear in the night. She marvels at the display of His power and might. Now, she began to realize the ability of the Lord to care for her, and to bring her through the wilderness, into the fullness of all that He intended for her, in this wilderness setting, the Lord revealed Himself to her, in all of His glory and might. Now, she saw only Jesus, all other things had lost their value, and she began to fall in love with Him and Him alone. The litter as applied to Jesus is a symbol of His human body, which was the tent or tabernacle in which He walked when upon this earth and ministering among men. Threescore…. It is the angelic hosts guarding Him and us.

3:9 King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon. He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom (seat) of gold and the covering of it purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for (or from) the daughters of Zion. It was Christ who made the chariot in which to bring His bride home to His father’s house of many mansions. This chariot is built of the cedar of Lebanon, or the sinless manhood of Jesus. The divine cedar, of which this Chariot of Salvation is built, was being prepared when Christ came down and took the form of man, walking among men, and ministering unto them.

3:10 He made the pillars thereof of silver. Pillars are a symbol of strength and steadfastness. Four pillars supported the veil, which concealed the Holy of Holies and four pillars are described as being at each corner and supporting the covering of his chariot. Silver sometime means the Word of God and also purity, but the most important meaning of silver is the Jewish worship in atonement. ‘Bottom’ or literally ‘the seat’, is a figure of the mercy seat in the Jewish Tabernacle, which covered the Ark of the Covenant and upon which the presence of Jehovah rested.

The message within the Song of Solomon develops around a Bridegroom who actively seeks a bride from among the Daughters of Jerusalem.

...The church is the body of Christ, who is our Prince of Peace and when we are told that this Song is concerning Solomon, it must include those who are His body.

...It is significant fact, that throughout Song of Solomon, the bride never mentions the name of her Bridegroom; but describes Him as her beloved or the One who her soul loveth; she speaks of Him as though there were none other but He on earth.

The bride’s words reveal that the Bridegroom is not with her visibly, yet He is not far off; He is absent and yet He is near. The bride knows that He is near her, but He is unseen; there is not the close intimacy into which she would enter. She longs for the kiss of love and communion, which comes after the kiss of reconciliation and peace.

How our hearts have cried to the Lord that we might approach Him and enter into such fellowship, such humility, as would constrain us to abide continually at His feet! The “kisses of the mouth” is the symbol of the close relation that is between a bride and a bridegroom. She is longing for the kiss of the betrothal which will be in earnest from Him that she is to be His bride.

For thy love is better than wine - Literally: Thy love tokens or thy caresses, “love” means the continual proofs and tokens of His love. ... The wine from the grape exhilarates and gives strength, but it only strengthens for a time; while the love of Christ is better than all earthly good and gives divine strength that abides.

...1:3 Thine oils have a goodly fragrance: Thy name is as oil poured forth. ... Twice, during His life on earth, the virgins of the bride anointed Him with costly oils, emblems of the fragrance, preciousness and perfections of His character and attributes, and also the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The first to anoint Him near the beginning of His ministry, was the one to whom He had forgiven much because she had sinned much. The other virgin who anointed Him was Mary of Bethany, who sat at His feet and listened to His words. ... Not only do His oils have a goodly fragrance, but He was the Christ the Anointed One.

Therefore do the virgins love Thee – The word virgins means the pure in heart and the same word is translated in Ps 83:3 – thy hidden ones.

1:4 Draw me and WE will run after thee – when the bride has commenced to smell His oils, she is filled with a greater hunger and she cries for Him to draw her. Already has she been drawn unto Him in deeper hunger – already has she longed for the kisses of His mouth, those tender moments of communion and prayer, which reveal His love. ... This but increases her desire to be drawn with greater power, with stronger cords of love.

Notice the Word – Draw ME and WE will run after thee. The drawing of God is upon each virgin who will make up the bride – His hand is shaping each living stone for the habitation in the Spirit. ... It must overcome and rise above all of the natural urges of life that are deep within us and motivate our actions in relation to our self-life. ... As we actively look to the Lord and prayerfully ask Him to “draw us” this hunger within us will intensify, causing us to cry out for its satisfaction. ... As we welcome His presence and begin to feed Him with our worship and with the expression of our commitment to ‘run after Him’.

...The plural of the word Chambers means that we cannot comprehend all that God has for us to enter into. The king has brought me into His chambers – herein is the secret – I must spend time in communion with my Lord. When I enter His chambers and wait in His presence, the power of God will flow into my being. Only then will I be able to go into the vineyard with the Lord in the outworking of all I have received.

The chamber of Salvation is the first chamber, which much be entered before a soul can go on into those wonderful chambers of the King.

...But our King does not let us be satisfied and rest here – and those who do this fail God and never get His best. Many of God’s children never go beyond the first chamber, and in the end are saved. Others enter into the second chamber of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and do not see the need of going on into perfection. There is a place that one must enter – a hidden place of meeting with the Lord. From this place are the entrances into all else that God has for us; from here, we go on into the ever-increasing transfiguration into the image of Christ.

...“Let my people Go!” In Exodus 5:1, we see these words first used by the Israelite leader, Moses, when he was speaking with Pharaoh, Egypt’s ruler. These powerful words given to Moses show us that it is the heart cry of our loving God for His “bound-up” children.

I really never thought about the importance of these words until not too long ago, when I realized it has never been or ever will be, God’s intention for His children to be chained to any type of plague or curse (sickness, disease, poverty, etc). These were placed against the heathen or the disobedient. See Deuteronomy 28: 15-68. My question is…Why do we as believers choose to walk in the plagues and curses, and not His blessings? Choosing is for you and me to make -RIGHT NOW.

We see in Deuteronomy 30:19, that God allows each of us the choice. “…I have set before you life and death, blessings and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and thy seed may live.” Do you see that it is OUR choice to have life or death? Do you also see it is OUR choice to have blessings or curses in OUR life and even in OUR seed's (children and families) life? So often, we place the responsibility of our troubles, trials and situations on God when that responsibility truly lies within our choices. I have found that by agreeing with the world's viewpoint and its rules, I forgot that I belonged to another kingdom, whose Ruler loves me and desires for me to be free from all bondages.

The true story in the following chapters illustrates how Exodus 8 became real to me. It shows how you and I NEVER have to live a life short of abundance and victory.

pages 12 - 13...

Worthy of Worship

Read Psalms 99

As Moses was tending his father-in-law's sheep in the desert, his attention was drawn to a strange sight. A bush was burning without being consumed. When Moses turned to look more closely, God said to him, "Take your sandals off your feet, for the place you stand is holy ground." (Exodus 3:5)

The experience of Moses teaches us that God desires not only our reverence and respect, but that He desires to meet with us. We are encouraged to "come boldly to the throne of grace." (Hebrews 4:16) We can experience the presence of God because Jesus has opened the way for us through His death on the cross.

Our Heavenly Father is not "the man upstairs." He is God, the One who is high and lifted up, and He desires to meet with you and tell you that "your voice is lovely and your face is beautiful." (Song of Solomon 2:14)

He is worthy of our praises, so let us give Him our highest praises.
