The Word and Prayer
21/06/11 23:59
God’s great love for people is so evident. He is pouring out His power to heal and set people free like few have ever seen. Every place we go we hear great reports of people receiving notable and special miracles. I believe that there has been an increase of miracles because God wants to show His power, His glory and display to His children and the world the love He has for people.
Many people ask what they need to do to see true miracles of God. The answer is, cooperation with God. Jesus said, “not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42) Paul expressed it, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Gal. 2:20)
When we humble ourselves and agree with what is written in God’s Word, we will see a demonstration of His power. It doesn’t stop with just agreeing with God and His Word, we must also get into the Word and let the Word get into us. This will only happen through prayer.

Jesus gave himself to the Word of God and to prayer. As a young boy, Jesus was reading, studying, and meditating on the Word. At the early age of 12, the scribes, Pharisees, and all that heard Jesus in the temple were astonished at his understanding and answers.” (Luke 2:46-47)
There are about 26 times in scripture that we read of Jesus praying. Remember the words of Jesus, “Could you not tarry one hour?” (Matt 26:40) Jesus prayed often and He also expected His followers to as well.
The apostles said, “We will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word.” (Acts 6:4) The apostles, like Jesus knew that only with a close fellowship in the Word and prayer would they see the manifestation of the ministry that God gave them - A ministry full of miracles.
I believe that this quote by John Wesley sums up what I am attempting to say. “Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth. God does nothing but in answer to prayer.”
There is no other way into the miracles of God but by “we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Jesus gave Himself to the Word and prayer and the Apostles did the same. How much more must we follow these directives and instructions? If we are to see the Hand of God move in our midst with mighty demonstrations of His glory, power and love, we MUST be willing to give ourselves over to prayer and HIS WORD.
As we do this we will find that it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” We will then see a great increase of God moving with His love amongst people, doing what He did 2,000 years ago through the ministry of Jesus.
